Taking photos of your edc
Mobile phone
I started taking and editing photos with my phone, and still do to this day. Mobile phone cameras have become very proficient at taking very good photos indeed, and it doesn't need to be a flagship phone either, the vast majority of mobile phones have very able cameras & you can download apps that allow you to edit those photos to quite a professional level if you are willing to put in a little time.
Camera
Of course if you want to use your SLR (single lens reflex) camera then feel free I'm just saying you don't have to go to extra expense if you already own a half decent phone.
Lighting
Lighting is a very important aspect of photography, so I would recommend external lighting gear. Lighting can range from a very inexpensive ring light to lighting softboxes which are designed to provide a large amount of light without being harsh.
Other photography items
Other items that would come in handy are a tripod stand, a phone holder, some lighting (this also can be very inexpensive if you look around), & an extendable arm that will allow you to take "flatlay" photos. What do I mean by flatlay? It's a photo that looks directly down onto your photo composition. A lot of edc photographers like to use this method.
